Many Ugandans and other Africans will know or have heard that Africans infected with HIV are deported from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In this audio interview, Ugandan Journalist Yasin Kakande who was based in Dubai for over 8 years confirms that indeed if an HIV test returns positive, a migrant worker will be deported.
Before a migrant worker can get an employment or resident permit in the UAE, an HIV test, Hepatitis test, Tuberculosis test is mandatory. If the tests are positive, no job is given and the migrant is returned to their home country.
